Junk Jack - The clue to the game's favourite collectibles is in the title, and I've decided I'll try and explain them to you.

Where can I get it?

Junk can be found anywhere in...

Blocks (items of junk - Jack Phone etc)

  • Chests (wearable junk - frog shoes etc)
  • Vases (yes, you can find up to silver attractive models in vases)
  • Mobs (wearable, usable and item junk)

A pro tip you can use for finding Junk items is mining sand and rough red dirt. If you have read my previous articles, you will know that you will also end up with a bunch of bottomless chest pieces.

What can I do with it?

STUFF - You can do everything in the game with the right pieces of wearable Junk, for example; breathe underwater, survive lava and acid, take no fall damage, be completely resistant to explosions and emit a faint glow. Yes, you may think I'm talking about encrusting, but Junk items can give you all of the above without gems.

Also note that when on multiplayer rare junk items are extremely valuable while trading, but my advise is to not trade your Junk items unless you know exactly how much it is really worth.

Looking to trade? A wide inventory of junk will help seal the deal.

Having impressive junk displays really improves the design of a house and shows that the owner has a taste for modern art... Yeah, right.

Very nice house you have there, it would be a shame if something were to happen to it.

Extended notes on Junk

Junk items are found in four main groups,

  1. Paintings
  2. Artifacts
  3. Chest pieces
  4. Internet References

There are 15 different paintings to collect, all of which are 8-bit representations of real life work and all are different to the paintings used in Junk Jack. Also, paintings often drop along with other junk items.

Artfiacts come in copper and silver varieties, or at least that's all I've been able to find. I have found 5 different artifiacts so far.

Internet references are basically 50% of the junk that you will find, such as cute cat (nyan cat) and sssssssquared monster (creeper head).

Bottomless chest pieces are a nightmare. But I can show you how, out of mining 700 blocks, you can get 10 chest pieces, opposed to the usual ratio of one or two.

Step 1: What do piece do you want?

• Left piece can be found in Terra (That's your starting world)

• Middle piece can be found in Seth (low chance) or Magmar (high chance)

• Right piece can only be found in Abla, making it the most rare chest peice.

Step 2: What blocks do I mine? IMPORTANT!

• For left pieces, only mine sand blocks in Terra. NOT in Seth! Two Antanium shovels should do the trick.

• For middle pieces, only mine rough red dirt FROM Magmar. Yes, that's right. Mine up the dirt from Magmar, get the hell outta there and set it down again in Terra. You can now mine this at your leisure, and still collect middle chest pieces

• For right pieces, have faith. I have found no block in alba which gives out right pieces openly, so my current ratio is 2 right to 600 blocks of dirt :,( . If you have tips, please share them!

Step 3: Crafting!

This is for the people who haven't got the craft note, just use the tinker's table and have the Left, Middle and Right pieces across it in order.

PRO TIP!

If you have a lucky amulet or a four leaf clover, equip it to your special item bar. Double the chest pieces and way more random junk!

Already Junk Jack X fans are hyped about what the new seasonal Christmas update will bring (@thepixbits on twitter has confirmed seasonal updates) and there is wild expectation of possibly a new dimension, Ixia. I'm sorry to tell you that this is probably not true, or at least Ixia isn't the name of the dimension. It started when, on Magmar, we saw the Ixia Acuminata sapling. Then rumours led to "Ixia is coming" and whole prospects of the new dimension appeared. However, the name once translated is a breed of flower (Ixia) and genital warts (Acuminata) which means that the devs where having a good laugh naming a tree "flowering genital wart". Such a beautiful easter egg, and remember next time on multiplayer, call that helpful griefer an Ixia Acuminata.

Here's a picture of the sapling for those who haven't made it to Magmar yet.

There's actually quite a range of Ixia flowers.

Actually, this is only one possible translation of Acuminata. It could also mean red banana tree, apparently.

I've been playing Junk Jack since the early days, enjoying the sandbox creativity and generally messing around with stuff, but now we have Junk Jack X. A whole different ball game, quoted to be "a thousand times better!" than the previous edition, with portals, multiplayer and a severely understocked wiki. So here are tips and tricks of Junk Jack X, to help improve your gameplay.
